Applications Laboratory

Milestone Medical maintains an applications laboratory at our U.S. headquarters in Kalamazoo, Michigan. This facility is a critical component of Milestone's ongoing mission to bring the histopathology lab of the future into today's reality.

Our lab is completely equipped with the full line of Milestone Medical tissue processing instrumentation, digital imaging systems, grossing tools, and unique reagents. We use our lab to conduct training for our customers, to help them get the most out of their new instruments. In addition, prospective customers can visit our lab for live product demonstrations.

Jim Milios

International Applications Manager

Jim Milios Jim Milios has over 20 years experience in the use of microwave technology for histology. His work includes dozens of publications, presentations, seminars and workshops in this field. He has also worked with Prof. Anthony S-Y Leong, an internationally recognized leader in the field of microwaves for pathology. Jim has an unparalleled depth of knowledge regarding Milestone Medical's instruments and the applications used today in laboratories. He supports Milestone Medical customers from our Bergamo, Italy location.


Donna Willis, HT/HTL (ASCP)

North American Applications Manager

Donna Willis Before joining Milestone Medical, Donna Willis had been the Histology Lab Manager at Harris Methodist Hospital in Ft. Worth, Texas. In that role, Donna became one of the world's most active pioneers in the use of microwaves for tissue processing, originating significant methods for common histoprocessing challenges. Her practical experience makes her extremely valuable as an expert resource. She handles applications support for Milestone customers throughout the U.S. and manages our Western Regional Applications Lab.


Joan M. Vesey, HT (ASCP)

Applications Specialist

Joan Vesey Joan's extensive Anatomical Pathology background includes both Hospital and Research settings. She spent several years focused on development and troubleshooting of protocols for special stains, including microwave techniques. Joan most recently worked as a technical manager providing application and troubleshooting support for Histology and Cytology products. A member of NSH, she has presented over fifty workshops, teleconferences and lectures at the state, regional and national level. Joan is also a member of the Michigan Society of Histology.
